I'm putting this together as a "rogues gallery" of castings that did not turn out quite right.  As I learn, things will get better (I hope), so there will be less things to add to this page...

	Dissolved gas: Molten aluminium can react with moisture in the air to dissolve hydrogen gas in the melt.  The gas comes out of solution when the molten metal cools down - you need to click on the picture to see the pin holes in enough detail - they go all the way through the material. The cure for this is to use a proprietary de-gassing tablet shortly before pouring to bubble chlorine through the melt and remove the dissolved gas.
